This benefit helps you pay out-of-pocket medical expenses not covered by your medical plan as well as day-to-day expenses that may start to add up—like rent, car payments, grocery costs, etc.—while you are ill.

If you are diagnosed with a covered illness, you get a lump-sum cash benefit, even if you receive other insurance benefits.
